I just finished reading the book The Christmas Box. I know it's after the Holidays, but I started reading it when things were hectic and just forgot about it. That is, until today at lunch.
This book truly is worth a read to any parent or soon to be parent. It asks the question, what was the first Christmas gift? It's love, time spent with loved ones, and knowing when you are selling diamonds to earn stones.
The book itself is relatively short and can be read in one setting for most regular readers. I on the other hand stretched it out over about 3-4 settings, mainly reading the book while my daughter took the time to eat her vegetables. So don't be intimidated and remember this inexpensive, $4.99, hard cover book as a Christmas gift for next year. Or it makes the perfect gift no matter the season.

What better way to celebrate the Holiday with family and friends and in the company of your very own Leg Lamp, than with the A Christmas Story movie. The movie is quickly finding it's way onto our TV at home, much like the Frosty The Snow Man series in claymation that has my 2 year old captivated.
It's funny, entertaining, and Christmas themed, and well worth the purchase especially now available on Blu-Ray DVD.

Watching this movie on Blu ray is just a fantastic experience. The detail is much better than what I watched on TV every year. If you like this movie get it on blu ray.
As a previous owner of this movie on DVD, this was purely an upgrade to Blu-Ray. We still enjoy it after all these years. One of the best Xmas movies ever made. A classic.
A Christmas Story [Blu-ray] Anyone who waited anxiously behind their davenport for just a glance; for anyone who believed in the magic of this mystery man; for anyone who had that special one of a kind gift that no one and I mean no one would get for you - this leads us into the magical world of MGM's A Christmas Story. Ralphie in his lust for a Red Ryder BB Gun - "You'll shot your eye out" parent/adult response and the length our Ralphie goes to achieve his conquest is worth the nearly 2 hours of video viewing. A very strong cast keeps this fast paced action comedy adventure true to the written word. Admit it, we all recognize and know our own Ralphie and gang. Parents who are loving; Teachers who are so focused that they miss the BIG PICTURE here. And last how could any review fail to mention Raplhie's imaginary world which springs to life with just the right amount a suggestion. A all time holiday classic worth the watch. So good a feature one station plays the film non-stop for 24 hours over the Christmas holiday and in my house, we have it on every set until the marathon is over. Watch for glimpses of such 1939 stories as The Wizard of Oz and Mickey Mouse. if anything - just watch it once - you will ENJOY the story then buy the book of Shephards works and radio broadcast. I love this movie, and it is indeed in "high def" however, its not true HD, its more like Enhanced Def, but it's quality is still good. For some reason my reciver would only play the audio from the center channel and i couldn't find anywhere on the box that stated it was dolby surround so i think i may have gotten ripped off a little, but i could still "simulate" surround sound with my reciever. It's a definate recommend to buy though.
I was worried about the blue ray quality but it turns out excellent. The movie does not need any review from me. It is a classic and I love it.
Ok, sure it probably doesn't fit into the definition of antique, ok I know it doesn't. But I just can't help myself enjoy the absolute tackiness of a Leg Lamp and it fits the holidays just so well.

It is soooo cute. I love A Christmas Story and I bought this for my friend who does too. I cant afford the real version so this night light is perfect.Its also a large size for a night light. Fun Gag Gift for fans of Christmas Story! Good Price, Came on time!
We purchased a couple of these- one as a Christmas Gift and one as a Card Party prize- both times they were a huge HIT! Most adults know and love the "Christmas Story" Movie and immediately recognize this nightlight. "It's FRA GI LE"! This little light is a perfect adult novelty. It's not a child's toy. It's larger than average nightlights and puts out a nice little glow from within the lampshade itself. It seems well made and we have had nothing but thanks and compliments from our happy recipients. We are very happy with the joy they brought to our friends!

If you've got a fan of "A Christmas Story" on your Christmas list, I strongly recommend this gift. It's bigger than your typical nighlight. I need to figure out a way to hang it right in the middle of my front window. Perhaps if I had an extension cord that already had about 15 electrical devices plugged into it ...
I bought it as a Christmas gift but Im going to keep it. The only issue is that when I use it in my bathroom both plugs are covered and I have to take it out to blow dry my hair.
This makes a great gag gift or the perfect gift for a Dirty Santa game.
Personally when I think of an antique Christmas lights I always think of a candle. Generally speaking candles create the best lighting to highlight antique Christmas decorations, but this isn't always the safest. That's why from time to time it helps to rely on newer technology to give the illusion of an antique Christmas. One example is the use of technology would be lights that mimic the looks of candles, which can then be placed safely in window sills and even hung on your antique Christmas tree.
However, don't forget that there were antique Christmas lights that looked somewhat like our tree lights today. The early 1900's were a time where there were 2 main types of technologies found in the lights. There were those Christmas lights made with carbon filament and those built using tungsten filament. Most antique Christmas lights came with warnings never to mix the two.
If you actually find actual antique Christmas lights I would strongly suggest not actually using them. They can pose a hazard because of old electrical wiring, which can cause differences in brightness and cause burn outs, shorts, etc. If you end up using antique Christmas lights for decoration, please do not connect them to a power source, leave them up for display during the day only.
